Our Mission
Our Mission is to be the haven for parents who are seeking an optimal environment for their children to learn, grow and be social in an environment that does not condone bullying in any effect. Our teachers are patient and work with every family, every student to ensure each are learning to the maximum of their ability daily.
Our primary curriculum is based on learning but not as a traditional method. We allow our teachers to teach and not feel rushed while our students are able to enjoy learning from their vantage point.
Our self esteem curriculum is based on the Reflective Curriculum Center Method which allows us to show great leaders of black people who look like us. We showcase their amazing attributes, hard-work and accomplishments. We believe we are attached to a lineage of creativity and brilliance and we intend of exemplifying that at each session.
Why is this home school academy different? We cater to children. We offer resources, programs and teachers who are here because of the need they see in our community. We are a village of parents, educators, relatives, professionals who are all in for the improvement of the academic success for students of color across the board. We ensure each child is taught at their level of understanding and brought to the “brill” brilliant level that is their own natural potential. We are for the frustrated parent looking for options to have their child to still be social and taught as a home school student. This setting is also for parents who would like the option of part time homeschooling or tutoring options. The Village is for parents who work and can not home school but like the option to have their children in this environment as we work like a public school .
Except, we are a safe environment, so we believe that children are amazing and need to be taught to love themselves, love education and respect each other among other topics .
Each child is different. Not one child is the same. We work with the parent and focus on each childs strengths and learning opportunities that can help them expand their knowledge and get into gear for learning.
We focus on Math, Reading, Science, Writing, Oratory and Skills. We teach from a centered space of evolving the whole child to greatness. The Village is a rich based environment that allows each child to grow.
It is more than just the basics. We give our students the ability to use expanded math to solve various skill scenarios and continue to build on that knowledge.
Children are expressive. They have a need to do so . So we honor that by allowing them expression via writing. Students work on critical thinking essays and works of art during the year.
Expression may be art, poetry, oratory or dance expression.
How things work independently and dependently by design and experiment. Science is a subject matter course that we cater based on the type of science per grade level.
Confidence
Our confidence course is intended for every student to take as a credit. It builds self esteem and comradere between students. It builds each students own passion for their goal setting and allows them to see themselves as a unique individual with a God given talent that is as amazing as they are. In every color, of every size, in every aspect, they are incredible and this course will not allow them to forget.
Dr. Claudette Jones-Muhammad
This program was something I knew about but had no idea how perfect this program was for both of my children. One of my kids has an IEP and working with The Village Scholar Academy allowed me to have a visual representation of me while I’m at work . I absolutely love my child’s advocate !! My other child is behind in reading. Working with The Village Scholar Academy and Ms. Ann has been a game changer. I’m telling you like night and day . She really loves teaching . Even though I’m just doing the reading tutorials for him- it’s 1000% worth it .
I’ve seen significant improvements in his reading comprehension and skills . This alone is worth it for me.
